Promet can improve your productivity and help save your hands! The task of loosening or tightening large nuts and bolts manually is traditionally a two person operation. It has now been halved! In addition to the productivity gains, the Slogging Hammer has been designed to eliminate the exposure of an operator’s hand being in the contact zone between a spanner and a traditional hammer.
Although electrical and pneumatic tools for tightening and loosening nuts and bolts are available, in many instances the only practical method for loosing and tightening bolts remains a manual function.
With the need to loosen and tighten large nuts and bolts there is the inherent risk of severe hand injuries, particularly severe crush injuries from the hammer contacting the body.
Traditional slogging spanners need to be held in place and then struck with a heavy hammer. If the spanners are not held in place, they have the potential to slip off the nut creating additional hazards to the task e.g. spanner slipping off on impact leading to muscular strains to the operator or rebounding and hitting the operator or other equipment.
Operators that are required to carry out the tightening and loosening of nuts and bolts have identified the risk of hand injuries in the use of these traditional tools. To eliminate the risk retro fit additions have been made to the tool to make their use safe for the operator. Although somewhat effective, it requires a second operator to achieve a safer work practice.
The Slogging Hammer takes all of the above considerations into its design. It allows a single operator to execute the act of loosening or tightening nuts and bolts by securing the slogging spanner to the Slogging Hammer. It allows the operator to hold the spanner in place over the nut while controlling the hammer as well. The tool achieves a safe work method in line with the hierarchy of control by eliminating the need for the hand to be in the impact zone between a traditional hammer and slogging spanner.
The Slogging Hammer also allows operators to loosen and tighten nuts and bolts that are in awkward or hard to reach positions where traditional tools require operators to work in cramped work areas or reach into or out, creating ergonomic hazards. Using the Slogging Hammer, operators can maintain constant physical control over the tool
The Slogging Hammers come in different sizes to suit multiple applications, for spanners ranging in size from 24mm to 110mm. Slogging Hammers have also been designed to be used in underground operations and are available in a spark free version.
With the industry focus on safe work practices, the Slogging Hammer uses the methodology of the hierarchy of control by eliminating a hazard associated with loosening and tightening nuts and bolts with traditional tools by providing an engineered solution for this task.
One hand injury from the act of loosening or tightening nuts and bolts using traditional tools is too many.
