Jim Cribbes
Chairman of the Board, ProMet Engineers
BSc(Hons), CP(Met), FAusIMM
Jim has over 35 years of experience in the iron processing industry, much of it spent with the Pittsburgh, USA office of Aker Solutions, (previously known as Kvaerner, Dravo and Davy McKee). He has been involved with operating and developing iron pelletising plants in a number of countries including Quebec Cartier Mining in Canada, Hibbing Taconite in the US, Jindal Vijayanagar Steel in India and Robe River Mining here in Australia. He was also Kvaerner’s Project Director for the HYL direct reduction project of Grasim Industries in India.
Immediately prior to the formation of ProMet Engineers, Jim was the general manager of the Kvaerner office in Perth and was involved with all of the metallurgical projects completed by that organisation between 1996 and 2000. This included studies into AUSI Iron in the Pilbara and Mt Gibson Iron near Geraldton. He was Kvaerner’s project sponsor on the Cawse Nickel project – the most successful of the three lateritic nickel projects in Western Australia - and has also been actively involved with the development of BHP Billiton’s nickel project near Ravensthorpe.
Under Jim’s leadership ProMet Engineers has established itself as the leading consulting and process engineering organisation in the Australian iron processing industry.
David Glynn

MBA, CEng, FInstMC, MAICD
David is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Institute of Measurement and Control (UK) and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD). David has 30 years experience in the minerals, metals and resources industry. He has been involved with all phases of project development from scoping studies to commissioning. He joined ProMet Engineers in August 2007 after completing 18 years with Aker Soloutions (formerly known as Aker Kvaerner and Davy McKee) where he was employed on various international ferrous and non-ferrous projects. On completion of his MBA, David became more involved in the commercial aspects of projects and business administration.
Derek Macauley
Technical Director, ProMet Engineers

He was responsible for the technical development which saw the original rotating vessel converted to a vertical furnace – the successful design of which is now incorporated into the commercial plant which was commissioned is now being ramped up.
Until mid 1998, Derek was also Engineering and Production Manager of the AUSI Iron project, responsible for the technical competency and satisfactory integration of the various plant units and processes comprising the integrated plant facility.
He has had extensive experience of all aspects of conventional iron and steelmaking as well as the new technologies such as HIsmelt, AusIron and rotary hearth technologies.
